08.10.2008 - 18 Germans Killed in Nepal Plane Crash
Authorities in Nepal said five Nepalese were aboard the Yeti
Airlines plane, which crashed as it landed at the Lukla airport,
some 150 kilometers northeast of the Nepalese capital Kathmandu.
One person is reported to have survived the accident.
News agency quoted Suraj Kunwar, a local journalist, saying the
aircraft caught fire after it crashlanded on the sloping airstrip.

When the weather is clear, dozens of flights land daily at Lukla's
Tenzing-Hillary airport, the gateway to Nepal's Everest region used
by thousands of trekkers and mountaineers.
