Four major trade unions that represent workers at Alitalia have signed off on a proposed deal to rescue the Italian airline.
The leading union, CGIL, dropped its objections to the rescue plan following a meeting in Rome with representatives of the Italian investor group CAI. This has convinced Italy's aviation authority to allow Alitalia to continue flying for the time being.
