This will be the first official visit a politician of independent Kosovo to the Czech Republic. The Czech Republic is one of more than 40 countries that have recognised the former Serbian province that unilaterally declared independence. The Czech Republic became in mid-July the 14th countries that promoted its liaison office in Prisitina to a diplomatic mission. Czech charge d'affaires Janina Hrebickova has said the mission is to facilitate everyday contact with Kosovo authorities as well as talks with U.N., NATO, EU and EULEX mission representatives.
