The civil aviation director in Honduras has disappeared after authorities alleged he had issued pilot certificates without any tests.
Guillermo Seamann allegedly issued a total of 38 certificates to pilots and mechanics from Venezuela and one to a worker from Peru.

Charter flights
A spokesman for prosecutors, Melvin Duarte, said Mr Seamann had been under investigation for a month.
The certificates would be valid for flying outside Honduras, the prosecutors said. No names have been released
Mr Seamann could face charges of abuse of authority and, if found guilty, a jail term of eight years, Mr Duarte said.
It was not clear whether it was a case of easing the application process or that the applicants did not have enough training, Associated Press reported.
Among other accusations was that Mr Seamann improperly awarded permits to US charter companies to fly to Honduras.
